Percentage is one of the most important and scoring topics in bank exams. Master shortcuts to save time.

1. Basic Concept

Percentage means per hundred.

Key Conversions:

  • 50% = 1/2
  • 25% = 1/4
  • 75% = 3/4
  • 20% = 1/5
  • 10% = 1/10

2. Fast Calculation Trick

Example:
25% of 480
= 480 ÷ 4 = 120

Example:
10% of 350 = 35
5% = half of 10% = 17.5

3. Percentage Increase/Decrease

Formula:
Increase % = (Increase / Original) × 100

Increase = 50
% Increase = (50/200) × 100 = 25%

4. Successive Percentage

Formula:
