Simplification & Approximation – Shortcut Tricks
Solve faster using smart calculation techniques.
1. BODMAS Rule
Order:
Bracket → Order → Division → Multiplication → Addition → Subtraction
Example:
8 ÷ 2(2+2)
= 8 ÷ 2 × 4
= 4 × 4 = 16
2. Approximation Trick
Round numbers for faster solving
Example:
498 × 21 ≈ 500 × 21 = 10500
3. Square Shortcut
Formula:
(a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²
Example:
52² = (50+2)²
= 2500 + 200 + 4 = 2704
Tough Problems
Q1:
45 × 55 = ?
Solution:
(50-5)(50+5) = 50² - 25 = 2500 - 25 = 2475
Q2:
999 × 999 = ?
Solution:
(1000-1)² = 1000000 - 2000 + 1 = 998001
Q3:
(125 × 16) = ?
Solution:
125 × 16 = (125 × 8 × 2)
= 1000 × 2 = 2000
