Percentage questions are very common in bank exams and are directly or indirectly used in topics like profit & loss, interest, and data interpretation. Using fraction-based shortcuts can save a lot of time.
✅ Trick 1: Convert Percentage to Fraction
Memorize these key conversions:
- 50% = 1/2
- 25% = 1/4
- 20% = 1/5
- 12.5% = 1/8
- 33.33% = 1/3
- 66.66% = 2/3
- 75% = 3/4
✅ Trick 2: Fast Percentage Calculation
Example: 25% of 480
- 25% = 1/4
- 480 ÷ 4 = 120
Example: 12.5% of 640
- 12.5% = 1/8
- 640 ÷ 8 = 80
✅ Trick 3: Percentage Increase Shortcut
Example: Increase 200 by 20%
- 20% of 200 = 40
- New Value = 200 + 40 = 240
Shortcut: Multiply directly
200 × 1.2 = 240

Example: Decrease 500 by 10%
- 10% of 500 = 50
