Syllogism Mixed Tricks (Either-Or, Only a Few) – Bank Exams
Exam Patterns • Smart Elimination • Accuracy Boost
1. Either–Or Concept
Either–Or means only one conclusion is correct, not both.
- Two conclusions are opposite
- One must be true
2. Either–Or Trick
If two conclusions are contradictory (A vs Not A) → Apply Either–Or
Example:
I. Some A are B
II. No A is B
👉 One must be true → Either–Or applies ✔
3. Only a Few Concept
“Only a few” means:
- Some A are B ✔
- Some A are not B ✔
👉 Partial connection + partial separation
4. Only a Few Trick
Only a few = Some + Not all
Important: It cannot be converted into “All”
5. Mixed Case (High Level)
Statements:
All A are B
Some B are C
No C is D
👉 Use step-by-step logic:
- A → B ✔
- B ↔ C (partial)
- C ✖ D
👉 Now check conclusions carefully
6. Common Mistakes
- Applying Either–Or without contradiction ❌
- Confusing “Only a few” with “Some” ❌
- Ignoring negative relations ❌
7. Topper Tip
Always check if conclusions are opposite before applying Either–Or. Do not guess — use logic.
8. Quick Practice
Statements:
All A are B
Conclusions:
I. Some A are B
II. No A is B
Answer: Either–Or applies ✔
