Reasoning Ability – Series
Series is an important topic in reasoning. Questions are based on identifying patterns in numbers or letters. It is a quick scoring topic if patterns are recognized correctly.
Types of Series
- Number Series
- Alphabet Series
- Alphanumeric Series
- Mixed Series
Number Series
Look for patterns such as:
- Addition or subtraction
- Multiplication or division
- Square or cube patterns
- Combination of operations
Example: 2, 4, 8, 16, ? → Answer: 32 (×2 pattern)
Alphabet Series
Use alphabet positions:
A=1, B=2, C=3 ... Z=26
Example: A, C, E, G, ? → Answer: I (+2 pattern)
