Inequalities – Chain Method and Coding Tricks

Solve inequality questions quickly using chain formation and symbol coding techniques.


Basic Symbols

> = greater than
< = less than
≥ = greater than or equal to
≤ = less than or equal to
= equal to


Chain Method

Example:
A > B, B > C

Conclusion:
A > C


Mixed Inequality Trick

Example:
A > B, B = C

Conclusion:
A > C


Opposite Sign Case

Example:
A > B, B < C

Conclusion:
No definite relation between A and C


Coding Trick

Sometimes symbols are replaced:

Example:
