Reasoning Ability – Seating Arrangement

Seating Arrangement is one of the most important topics in reasoning. Questions are based on positions of people sitting in a row or circle. It requires logical thinking and careful analysis.

Types of Seating Arrangement

  • Linear Arrangement (Row)
  • Circular Arrangement
  • Rectangular / Square Arrangement
  • Complex Puzzle Arrangement

Basic Concepts

  • Left and right depend on facing direction
  • In circular arrangement, directions change based on facing (inside/outside)
  • Positions are fixed once arranged

Important Rules

  • If facing North → Left is left, Right is right
  • If facing South → Left becomes right, Right becomes left
  • In circle facing center → directions remain normal
  • Facing outside → directions reverse

Shortcut Tricks

1. Fix One Position

Start with a definite person or condition.

2. Use Diagram Method

Draw rough diagrams for clarity.

3. Solve Step-by-Step

Do not jump to conclusions, follow each clue carefully.
