1. Basic Concept
Ranking questions involve position of a person in a row or group.
👉 Two types:
- From left side
- From right side
2. Important Formula
Total = Left Rank + Right Rank – 1
3. Example
A is 5th from left
A is 6th from right
👉 Total persons = 5 + 6 – 1 = 10 ✔
4. Finding Position
If total and one side is given:
Position from other side = Total – Given position + 1
5. Example
Total = 20
A is 7th from left
👉 From right = 20 – 7 + 1 = 14 ✔
6. Common Mistakes
- Forgetting -1 in formula ❌
- Confusing left and right ❌
- Calculation errors ❌

Always write formula and substitute values. Avoid mental confusion.
