Inequality Advanced Tricks (Either / Combined Cases) – Bank Exams

Advanced Logic • Either-Or • Accuracy Boost

Advanced inequality reasoning

1. Combined Inequality Concept

Sometimes inequalities are given in mixed form:

A ≥ B < C ≤ D

👉 Solve step-by-step by breaking into parts and then combining.

2. Either–Or Concept

Either–Or is used when:

  • Two conclusions are opposite
  • One must be true

Example:
I. A > B
II. A ≤ B
→ Either–Or applies ✔

3. Important Trick

👉 If relation is unclear:

  • Check possibility
  • Check contradiction

Contradictory conclusions → Apply Either–Or

4. Example

Statements:
A ≥ B
B > C

Conclusions:
I. A > C ✔
II. A = C ❌

👉 Only I follows

5. Advanced Example

Statements:
A > B ≥ C
D ≥ C

Conclusions:
I. A > D
II. A ≤ D

👉 No direct relation between A and D 👉 Either–Or applies ✔

6. Common Mistakes

  • Applying Either–Or without checking contradiction ❌
  • Ignoring “=” in inequality ❌
  • Assuming relation without proof ❌

7. Topper Tip

Always check if conclusions are opposite before applying Either–Or. Never assume relationships.

8. Quick Practice

Statements:
A ≥ B > C
D ≥ C

Conclusions:
I. A > D
II. A ≤ D

Answer: Either–Or ✔
