📘 BANK EXAM SPEED MATHS – PAGE 9
🔹 Time & Work Tricks
Time and Work questions are frequently asked in bank exams. Understanding efficiency and using shortcuts can help solve these questions quickly.
✅ Trick 1: Work Efficiency Concept
Concept: If A completes work in x days, then 1 day work = 1/x
Example: A completes work in 10 days
- 1 day work = 1/10
✅ Trick 2: Combined Work
Example: A = 10 days, B = 20 days
- A's efficiency = 1/10
- B's efficiency = 1/20
- Total = 3/20
- Time = 20/3 = 6.67 days
✅ Trick 3: LCM Method (Fastest)
Example: A = 6 days, B = 8 days
- LCM = 24 units
- A = 4 units/day, B = 3 units/day
- Total = 7 units/day
- Time = 24 ÷ 7 = 3.43 days
🔹 Time & Distance Tricks
✅ Trick 4: Basic Formula
Formula: Speed = Distance ÷ Time
Example: Distance = 120 km, Time = 2 hours
- Speed = 120 ÷ 2 = 60 km/h
✅ Trick 5: Relative Speed
Concept:
- Same direction → Subtract speeds
- Opposite direction → Add speeds
Example: Speeds = 60 km/h and 40 km/h (opposite)
- Relative speed = 100 km/h
✅ Trick 6: Train Crossing Shortcut
Example: Train length = 100 m, speed = 10 m/s
- Time to cross pole = Length ÷ Speed
- = 100 ÷ 10 = 10 seconds
🔹 Practice Questions
- A completes work in 12 days, B in 6 days. Find combined time
- A = 8 days, B = 12 days. Find efficiency ratio
- Speed = 80 km/h, Time = 3 hours. Find distance
- Two trains 50 km/h & 70 km/h opposite. Find relative speed
- Train 120 m at 12 m/s, time to cross pole?
