BANK EXAM SPEED MATHS – PAGE 7
🔹 Ratio & Proportion Tricks
Ratio and proportion are important topics in bank exams and are widely used in mixture, partnership, and data interpretation questions. Using shortcut techniques helps in solving them quickly and accurately.
✅ Trick 1: Simplify Ratio Quickly
Example: 48 : 60
- Divide both by 12
- 48 ÷ 12 = 4
- 60 ÷ 12 = 5
Answer = 4 : 5
✅ Trick 2: Convert Ratio to Fraction
Example: Ratio 3 : 5
- Total parts = 3 + 5 = 8
- First part = 3/8
- Second part = 5/8
✅ Trick 3: Proportion Shortcut
Concept: a : b = c : d → a × d = b × c
Example: 3 : 4 = 6 : x
- 3 × x = 4 × 6
- x = 24 ÷ 3 = 8
✅ Trick 4: Direct Ratio Adjustment
Example: Income ratio = 2 : 3, total income = 5000
- Total parts = 5
- Value of 1 part = 5000 ÷ 5 = 1000
- Individual incomes = 2000 and 3000
🔹 Practice Questions
- Simplify 72 : 90
- Divide 600 in ratio 2 : 4
- 3 : 5 = x : 20, find x
- Income ratio 4 : 6, total = 2000, find shares
- Ratio 7 : 8, total parts = ?
