Profit and Loss is a scoring topic in bank exams. Shortcut methods can help solve these questions quickly without lengthy calculations.
✅ Trick 1: Basic Formula
- Profit = SP − CP
- Loss = CP − SP
- Profit% = (Profit ÷ CP) × 100
✅ Trick 2: Successive Percentage Change
Formula: Net % = a + b + (ab/100)
Example: +20% and −10%
- = 20 − 10 − (200/100)
- = 8% gain
✅ Trick 3: Marked Price & Discount
Example: 20% discount on ₹500
- SP = 500 × 0.8 = 400
🔹 Simple Interest (SI) Tricks
✅ Trick 4: SI Formula
SI = (P × R × T) / 100
Example: P=1000, R=10%, T=2
- SI = 200
🔹 Compound Interest (CI) Tricks
✅ Trick 5: CI Shortcut (2 Years)
Formula: CI = P(1 + R/100)² − P
Example: P=1000, R=10%
- CI = 1000(1.1² − 1)
- = 1000(1.21 − 1) = 210
✅ Trick 6: Difference Between CI & SI
For 2 years: Difference = P × (R/100)²
Example: P=1000, R=10%
- Difference = 1000 × (0.1)² = 10
